Deputy PM Dam, who heads up the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, met with domestic and foreign business community and leaders of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday.

He said the amount of vaccines Vietnam has received is limited not because of lack of funding but because the world supply is scarce and foreign manufacturers only sell vaccines to the Government and do not sell them directly to businesses.

The Deputy PM thanked the business community, who have overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic over the past year, for their contribution to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund. He welcomed the business community to join in so that Vietnam can secure vaccines and safely inject the population to achieve herd immunity as soon as possible.

The Ministry of Health has received commitments from foreign manufacturers to supply 170 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam. The Government is coordinating so that vaccine batches will arrive one by one, said the Deputy PM.
