Son said Government members agreed that Vietnam has fundamentally contained the COVID-19 pandemic nationwide with the fatalities dramatically dropping, the number of recoveries increasing, and COVID-19 vaccination being accelerating. Son said Vietnam has been adapting safely, flexibly, and effectively controlling the pandemic and gradually recovering socio-economic activities.
He said the World Health Organization praised Vietnam's effective, flexible, and prompt solutions to prevent and control the pandemic.
To date, Vietnam has received more than 123 million doses of vaccine, administered more than 88.5 million doses for people aged 18 and above, and begun to vaccinate children under 18 years old with a a focus on children of 16 to 17 years old in the mean time.
Thanks to efforts to contain the pandemic, production and business activities are gradually recovered in the new normal. Vietnam's socio-economic performance in October was better than in September. The macro-economy continued to be stable; inflation was low; and major balances were secured.
At the press briefing, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan clarified the solutions to bring workers back to work and the disbursement progress to support workers from the unemployment insurance fund. As of November 5, 985 million USD in cash relief has been given to nearly 9.4 million workers.
