Government provides 3.26 million USD in emergency aid to typhoon-hit localities

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung held a working session with leaders of Gia Lai province on Saturday evening to discuss measures to address the aftermath of typhoon Kalmaegi.

According to the province’s report, the typhoon caused severe damage, leaving two people dead, eight injured, and resulting in material losses estimated at about 204 million USD.

The Government has decided to provide 3.26 million USD in emergency aid to the affected localities, with Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces each receiving 1.22 million USD.

Gia Lai province has urgently arranged temporary shelters at military facilities for people who lost their homes, provided them with food and other necessities, and ensured schooling for students. The electricity sector is making efforts to restore the power grid on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister Dung requested Gia Lai province to continue supporting residents affected by typhoon Kalmaegi, ensure stable housing, especially for those whose homes were destroyed or lost their roofs, repair power, water, and transport infrastructure, and promptly resume transportation, production, and business activities.
