Ministries and sectors also had prompt instruction on implementing the plan. The government received applause for the keenness of its guidelines and its flexible management in harmonizing immediate and long-term targets. Vietnam’s socio-economy is on the right track to reach its general goals this year, proving the soundness of central policies.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked ministries and localities to implement the government’s resolutions with priority given to stabilizing the macro-economy, controlling inflation, strictly implementing the fiscal policy, stabilizing prices, improving management of the gold market, and boosting exports. He said: “We have achieved encouraging results. But we should continue to stabilize the macro-economy and control inflation because these are the decisive factors to ensure sustainable growth in the coming years. We should also remove problems for business production, which include bad debts and administrative procedures. Our goal is to reach a growth rate of 5.8% this year.”

Prime Minister Dung called for greater efforts in personnel training, infrastructure investment and reducing bad debts in 2014. He said that the government’s primary tasks in 2014 will include boosting the restructuring of state-owned enterprises and agriculture, ensuring social security, protecting the environment, and coping with natural disasters and climate change.
