Grand ceremony marks 1,050 years of Vietnam’s first feudal state

(VOVWORLD) -A grand ceremony was held on Tuesday in the Red River Delta province of Ninh Binh, to celebrate 1,050 years of the establishment of Dai Co Viet, the first centralized feudal state of Vietnam.

The event at the former imperial capital of Hoa Lu saw the presence of Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong and a large number of local people and visitors. In her speech, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee of Nguyen Thi Thanh noted that King Dinh Tien Hoang named the country Dai Co Viet (Great Viet) and set up the capital in Hoa Lu in 968.

“The establishment of Dai Co Viet demonstrates our national independence, self-reliance, and sovereignty. The reign title of Peace also presents our people’s desire for peace and prosperity,” Ms. Thanh elaborated.  

Dai Co Viet existed from 968 to 1054 under three royal dynasties: the Dinh, the early Le, and the early period of the Ly.
