Delegates from the Ministry of Defense and local authorities hailed the Party leadership and people’s wish for peace as a decisive factor for the victory, as Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Thanh Cung puts it: “The Great Spring Victory in 1975 reflected correct leadership of the Party and people’s strength as well as Vietnamese people’s wish for unification and peace in the motto: nothing is more valuable than independence.”
