Haiti commemorates 8th anniversary of devastating earthquake
(VOVWORLD) - A moment of silence was held in Haiti on Friday to mark the eighth anniversary of the devastating quake that killed more than 220,000 people.

During the memorial ceremony in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, President Jovenel Moise pledged his efforts to recover Haiti and called for continued international assistance.
Around 3 million Haitians were affected by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck on January 12, 2010. Port-au-Prince capital was flattened while millions of people turned homeless. Haiti has received enormous international support but it still remains the poorest country in the American continent.
