(VOVWORLD) - Washington will provide Israel with additional 3.5 billion USD to buy US weapons and military equipment, Israeli media reported on Friday.
In April, the US Senate passed a bipartisan funding bill worth 14.1 billion US in assistance to Israel.
The new aid was announced as Israel and the Middle East are preparing for the possibility of retaliation from Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh and the air attack killing a senior military commander of Hezbollah.
The US is facing criticism for continuing to provide military aid to Israel, while 40,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza since the conflict between Israel and the Hamas Islamic movement broke out last October.
