Hanoi artist Do Duc welcomes the year of the horse
(VOVworld)- A one-man show called”The rock mountain horse” by veteran painter Do Duc opened in the Exhibition hall of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association at 16 Ngo Quyen Street, Hanoi on Sunday. The exhibit features 40 oil paintings revealing the close ties between horses and Vietnam’s highland people. One exhibit visitor told VOV: Do Duc is a painter who is successful in depicting mountainous area topics. This time his exhibit is about the horse. In fact, the horse is a tool which supports people in highland regions on production, delivery, and goods exchange.
The horse in Duc’s paintings is closely associated with humans. Painter Duc explains one of his favorite paintings called “A Thousand miles alone”: Among my paintings are a lot of paintings which depict just a horse carrying a load on his back without humans or a clear path. Through this horse, I want to imply man’s destiny. A man throughout his entire life can experience many things, but he has only himself and the load on his back.
The exhibit will run until January 3rd.
