Hanoi donates computers, online learning kits for disadvantaged students

(VOVWORLD) - 7,000 computers, tablets, and smartphones and 10,000 data SIM cards have been donated in response to a call by the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter to aid disadvantaged children in online learning.

Educational units at grassroots level and schools have raised fund themselves for needy students to make sure over 99% of students from primary, secondary, and high schools in Hanoi access online learning on a daily basis.

It is estimated that 10,000 Hanoi students fall short of proper equipment for online learning.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 12 launched a national program to provide computers and internet service to students whose families are in difficult circumstances, especially those living in pandemic-hit areas.
The program aims to deliver 1 million computers to students in poor and near-poor households nationwide and ensure internet service to more than 280 points with no internet connection in localities that have imposed social distancing regulations, and to more than 1,900 other places.
