(VOVworld) – Hanoi hosted a celebration on Tuesday for Greek tourist Papazoglou Eleni, its three millionth visitor in 2014. At the ceremony, the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee honored 6 travel companies for their good services this year: Vietnam tourism-Hanoi JSC, Metropole Legend Sofitel Hotel Hanoi, HG Travel, Inter Continental Hotel Hanoi, Vietrantour, and De L’Opera Hotel. Such promotion activities will help attract more visitors to Hanoi.

To Van Dong, Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said:“Hanoi has recently emerged as an attractive destination for tourists in the region and around the world. Hanoi’s tourism sector has developed considerably in scale and quality. The sector has become a spearhead of Hanoi’s economy and played a significant role in economic restructuring. As a city with a one-thousand-year-old history, good tourist services, and hospitable people, Hanoi has become an attractive and safe destination fore foreign tourists.”
TripAdvisor ranked Hanoi 2nd out of 25 best Asian destinations and 8th out of world’s top 25 places in 2014. The page hailed Hanoi for the most reasonable travel fees. Smart Travel Asia magazine included Hanoi on its list of Asia’s top 10 destinations for a vacation.
