(VOVworld) – A meeting of former National Assembly deputies for HCM city was held on Monday to mark the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s first general election on January 6.
Nguyen Tan Lap, a deputy of the 6th National Assembly, said: “I’m happy to see changes taking place in Vietnam over the last 40 years. Vietnam was a poor country back in 1976 but things have changed drastically. I hope that younger generations will contribute more to Vietnam’s development.”
Vietnam’s first general election in 1946 marked the growth of Vietnam’s revolutionary state and opened a new era in Vietnam’s history with a legislature, a united government, a progressive constitution, and a legal administration. Over the last 70 years Vietnam’s National Assembly has contributed considerably to Vietnam’s revolution, renewal, and development.
