HCMC, Canada boast huge potential for multi-disciplinary cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - With potential for multi-disciplinary cooperation, Ho Chi Minh City and Canada should aim to raise bilateral trade to 1 billion USD and increase the investment value from Canada into the city to 500 million USD in the near future.

Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai made the statement at Thursday’s reception for  Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, adding that the visit offered an opportunity for both sides to promote cooperation in many fields, especially trade and investment.

Ms. Mary Ng said that the Canadian delegation to Vietnam this time has more than 100 businesses in agriculture, processing industry, space science, green growth, and climate change response.

This demonstrated the need and desire of Canadian companies to seek cooperation and investment opportunities in Vietnam.

After the visit, Canada will connect investment funds and organize delegations including schools and research institutes to go to HCMC to promote cooperation in human resource development.

In addition, Canada has lots of experience in economic development in parallel with environmental protection and is ready to share with Ho Chi Minh City its green transformation.
