At the Military Medical Academy, more than 6,000 volunteers have registered to participate in the trial, of which more than 600 will be screened to be eligible to get the shots. Initially, the Academy will test the Nanocovax vaccine for 1,000 volunteers, divided into 2 groups, one group will be injected a dose of 25mcg and the other group to be injected a placebo to compare the protective efficacy of the vaccine.

Lieutenant General Do Quyet, Director of the Military Medical Academy said early this month that volunteers will be monitored for 42 days to evaluate the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness against the coronavirus.

If the pandemic persists, the Academy will seek approval from the Medical Ethics Council of the Ministry of Health for emergency use and will continue our evaluation afterwards. If approved, the vaccine will be administered in September, said Quyet.
