Heavy rains triggered by storm Mulan pound northern Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) -Storm Mulan, the second off Vietnamese coast this year, has entered the Gulf of Tonkin causing heavy rains and strong winds at sea.

The storm and its circulation are forecast to continue to bring heavy rains and increase the risk of flash floods and landslides in the northern mountainous areas in the next two days.
Nguyen Van Huong at the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the storm has reduced its intensity and will continue to move down south the Gulf of Tonkin to cause strong thunderstorms.
By late Friday there will be heavy rain in Vietnam’s northern region and heaviest rainfall is pounding the region on Thursday with the rain level likely to reach more than 100mm.
Inspecting the response to storm Mulan in Hai Phong City on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep, who is also Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, urged northern localities’ proactiveness in preventing inundation as well as ensuring agricultural production. He also asked for solutions to buffer water drainage and prevent flood in urban areas and residential areas.
