Ho Chi Minh city ensures foreign visitors safety during COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh city is working on plans and procedures for people entering the city from Japan, South Korea, China, Chinese Taiwan, Laos, and Cambodia, said Director of the Municipal Department of Health at a Monday online meeting of the city’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Nguyen Tan Binh said the visitors will have to undergo necessary examination and quarantine measures. They will have samples taken for testing upon arrival, be quarantined for six days at a hotel, receive their test results on the sixth day, then be quarantined at home for another eight days, and receive new test results on day 14.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem said the city is focusing on the dual tasks of fighting the epidemic and boosting economic growth. Local authorities will create favorable conditions for foreigners to work in the city while preventing the spread of COVID-19.

"Rapid SARS-CoV-2 tests for people entering Vietnam will be conducted according to regulations of the Ministry of Health. Those entering for a short period will be banned from visiting karaoke clubs, bars, or festivals," Mr. Liem said.
