(VOVworld) – Ho Chi Minh City is set to implement initiatives put forth by overseas Vietnamese. At Wednesday meeting on overseas Vietnamese affairs, the city officials expressed intention to improve the quality of communications, people-to-people exchange, and cooperation with diplomatic agencies and overseas Vietnamese Associations to promote overseas resources and support Vietnamese in Laos and Cambodia.

Tran Hoa Phuong, Deputy Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Committee in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “We’ve cooperated with sectors and organizations to realize initiatives proposed by overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, businessmen, and social activists on improving social life. It’s our main task this year.”
Ho Chi Minh City has about 290,000 companies run by overseas Vietnamese and received 5 billion USD of overseas remittance last year.
