(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's ancient town of Hoi An has ticked all the boxes for green, sustainable tourism criteria, the key approach of Vietnam’s National Tourism Year 2022.
Hoi An is an environmentally friendly city.

Five green tourism models in Hoi An have been successfully piloted. 60 tourism companies have promised to say no to plastic waste. Up to 100 travel companies are expected to have been granted green tourism certificates by 2025. These are the conditions for Hoi An, a famous resort town of central Quang Nam province, to be approved as a green tourist destination.
According to Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, a green economy is an irreversible trend worldwide. Quang Nam’s green tourism models will be replicated all over Vietnam, he added.
“We have defined tourism as our spearhead economic sector that supports other economic sectors. Sustainable tourism development is our way to go. Resolutions to recover tourism have already been in place. We expect it to flourish again in the next two years,” Mr. Hung said.
The National Tourism Year 2022 will officially kick off late March in Hoi An city to promote green tourism.
