Houthi rebels take control of Yemen’s presidential palace

(VOVworld) – Yemen’s Houthi rebels seized the Yemeni presidential palace in Sana’a Tuesday. Yemeni Information Minister Nadia al-Sakkaf called the event “the completion of a coup.”

On Monday the Shiite rebels clashed with Yemen’s army near the presidential palace and encircled the palace of Yemeni Prime Minister Khalid Bahah, a few hours after a failed assault on his convoy. The Houthis had already taken control of a military base near the presidential palace, the state television and news agency.
