Human rights dialogue boosts mutual understanding between Vietnam and the US

(VOV) – Answering a reporter’s question relating to the Vietnam-US Human Rights Dialogue on April 12th in Hanoi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi said that at the dialogue the two sides frankly exchanged information about the law-governed state, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the rights of homosexuals and people with disabilities and the protection of human rights in Vietnam and the US.

The Vietnamese side took the initiative in providing accurate information and correcting erroneous reports that have not correctly reflected the real situation in Vietnam. Nghi said that regular dialogues on human rights issues conducted in an open, constructive, and mutually respectful spirit will strengthen mutual understanding and boost cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
