(VOVworld) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano arrived in Tehran late Saturday to hold talks with Iranian officials regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Amano met Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday before talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Director Ali Akbar Salehi. Amano's trip came ahead of an Aug. 25 deadline for Iran to provide information relevant to the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) inquiry into what it calls the possible military dimensions of Iran’s disputed nuclear program. Negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 will take place before the UN General Assembly convenes on September 16, focusing on compliance with a preliminary agreement, which requires Iran to narrow the scale of its nuclear program in exchange for reduced economic sanctions.
