IAEA: Iran complies with nuclear deal

(VOVworld) - IAEA’s chief Yukiya Amano certified on Saturday that Iran had met the provisions of the nuclear deal signed by Iran and world powers in Vienna last July, a move that cleared the way for Tehran to get relief from crippling international nuclear-related sanctions.

The International Atomic Energy Agency’s statement was issued after agency inspectors on the ground verified that Iran has carried out all measures required under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to enable Implementation Day to occur.

The same day, the European Union agreed to lift economic sanctions against Iran. US Secretary of State John Kerry said the White House simultaneously issued an executive order putting US measures for sanctions relief into place. According to the White House, President Barack Obama had signed an order to lift sanctions imposed on Iran.

The UN, UK, and France welcomed the implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal and expressed the hope that the success will contribute to regional stability.
