Amano said he remained committed to dialogue with Iran to address the IAEA's concerns about Tehran’s controversial nuclear program. But he said the two sides have not had any meetings after 10 rounds of negotiations, since early 2012. On the same day, in Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the result of the election in Iran clearly showed the deep discontent of the Iranian people towards Tehran’s administration but that it was not powerful enough to alter Tehran’s nuclear ambition.

Meanwhile, speaking at his first press conference in Tehran since taking office, newly-elected President Hassan Rohani said Iran was willing to make its nuclear program more transparent but would not stop its uranium enrichment program. He affirmed that Iran’s nuclear program is transparent and in line with international law, adding that international sanctions against Iran were groundless and unjust.
