The IAEA said on Wednesday that drones struck the facility in southern Ukraine on Sunday, but did not cause any nuclear security or safety threat.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said this is a major escalation of the nuclear safety and security dangers facing the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant. He continued, such reckless attacks significantly increase the risk of a major nuclear accident and must cease immediately.

All reactors have been shut down but they still require a continuous electric supply to be cooled down. Zaporizhzhia is the biggest nuclear power plant in Europe with a capacity of 6 gigawatts.
