IFAD helps Vietnam to improve farmers’ income

(VOVworld) – The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will support Vietnam to improve the income and living standards of 30,000 farming households in the Northeast of Vietnam.

This was agreed in an agreement signed on Friday by Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien and IFAD President Kanayo F.Nwanze in Rome. IFAD will provide 43 million USD in the credits of 74.3 million USD for the project to support business by farming households in Bac Kan and Cao Bang province. Vietnamese government will allocate 20.6 million USD, while beneficiary localities contribute 10.7 million USD. The project aims to help farmers and rural laborers access goods and labor markets, as well as increase rural people’s adaptation to climate change.
