IFC wants to develop capital markets in Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - The International Financial Corporation (IFC) executive, says her organization wants to work with Vietnam to develop the country’s capital markets by introducing new products on the stock market, developing the corporate bond market, and investing in large-scale projects.

Stephanie von Friedeburg made the statement at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue in Hanoi on Thursday.

Mr. Hue said the IFC’s investment in Vietnamese banks and financial institutions has boosted the equitization process, private sector’ growth and mobilization of capital for infrastructure.

After describing planned infrastructure projects like Long Thanh airport and the North-South highway, Mr. Hue asked the IFC to provide funding to enterprises and banks for investment in those projects.
