India – a potential market for Vietnam’s food processing

(VOVWORLD) - India’s population of 1.4 billion people and a match in supply and demand between Vietnam and India are great opportunities for the two countries to boost bilateral trade, especially in agricultural produce and food processing, in the post Covid-19 epidemic period.

A video conference entitled “Trade Promotion of Agricultural Products and Processed Food with India” was held on Thursday by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Embassy of Vietnam in India and Indian importers.

Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau spoke at the event: "One lesson learned from the epidemic is that we have to diversify both material supplies and markets. We should have alternative markets to switch to in case any possible problems occurs. India is a strong market with increasing purchasing power and demands for Vietnam’s food."

Indian importers were keen on Vietnam’s markets where Covid-19 is under control and everything is coming back to normal. In addition, Vietnam’s agricultural products including dragon fruit, coffee, cocoa, and seafood have been favored by Indian consumers.
