During an interview with VOV in Hanoi on Friday, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma said  “Vietnam has managed the COVID-19 really well. If you look at the number from the first to the second round of infections that started unfortunately two weeks ago. I think Vietnam, without any doubt, should be spoken highly of managing the pandemic and taking care of the patients.”

He added, “Vietnam is one of countries that took really early actions, maintain information flow transparent, and concerned much about testing, contact tracing. All of the government, the society, and all mobilization responded actively. I acknowledge that Vietnam is one of the developing countries that control the pandemic really well.”

The Indian Ambassador said that Vietnam is a key pillar and an important partner in India's Indo-Pacific Vision. He welcomes Vietnam’s role as ASEAN Chair 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.

Vietnam is always an active and responsible member of the international community by contributing to the UN peacekeeping, sustainable development goals, and boosting multilateralism, said the Ambassador.

India is willing to work closely with Vietnam in fully realizing the dual responsibility at ASEAN and the UN Security Council and deepening the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, according to the Indian diplomat.
