India’s President concludes Vietnam visit

(VOVworld) – India’s President Pranab Mukherjee left Ho Chi Minh city on Wednesday concluding a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang. During the visit, he held talks with President Sang and met with party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

The leaders agreed on measures to boost the strategic partnership between the two countries with a focus on politics, national defense, security, economics, science, technology, oil and gas, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. They also agreed to increase visit exchanges, boost bilateral cooperative mechanisms including the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in Vietnam next year. They said that defense and security cooperation was an important pillar in the two countries’ strategic partnership.
