Indonesian police arrest three suspects over links to Jakarta attacks

(VOVworld) - Indonesian police have arrested three men on suspicion of links to multiple bomb and gun attacks in Jakarta on Thursday that killed 7 people and wounded 20 others.

Police chief Colonel Dwiyono, from the Depok area south of the capital said the men were arrested at dawn at their homes. Indonesia is investigating a network suspected of belonging to the Islamic State who earlier claimed to cause the attack.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday condemned the bombings and gun attacks in Jakarta  and extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery. Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha strongly criticized the attack and said Thai government is willing to support Indonesia in any way. On the same day, Brunei King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah sent message of condolence to Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Governments of Canada, Australia and Japan condemned the attack and said they would support Indonesia in investigation.
