Inspections increased against bird flu

(VOVworld) – Ho Chi Minh City’s Veterinary Sector has been taking drastic preventive measures against A/H5N1 bird flu and the possible development of the new virus strain A/H7N9. Nguyen Phuoc Trung, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, called for the immediate closure of all places selling sub-quarantined poultry products. Trung said ‘We have conducted inspection tours and determined that local authorities have paid attention to the messages regarding food safety. The existing hot spots in terms of selling suspect poultry are mainly located in the adjacent areas, where traders use a lot of tricks. Inspection has been required in the traditional markets, and localities should increase close cooperation to avoid the spread of the epidemic.

Hanoi health sector has set up five mobile teams to monitor A/H7N9 while hospitals in the city are ready to receive A/H7N9 patients.
