(VOVworld) – The International Association for Official Statistics Conference opened on Wednesday in Da Nang city, with 200 statistical experts from around the world participating.

Themed “Challenges of State Statistics: Meeting the Demands of a Changing World”, the conference focused on users’ demand for easily accessible and reliable statistics, enhancing international cooperation in training and exchanges with statistics users. The participants also recommended measures to improve the capacity of the national statistics office. Nguyen Bich Lam is the General Director of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam: "The International Association for Official Statistics Conference is one of the world’s most significant statistic events, after the World Statistics Congress. This is the forum for statistical experts and scientists to exchange ideas and develop the statistic sector and share their experiences to boost social understanding about official statistics".
