(VOVworld) – The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has banned Russian athletes from competing at Paralympics 2016, which will be held next month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The IPC President Philip Craven said Russia was banned due to its doping scandal. Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said that Russia will appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, adding that there was no precedent for this case.
