Iran accuses Saudi Arabia of bombing its embassy in Yemen

(VOVworld) – On Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused Saudi planes of deliberately bombing its embassy in Yemen’s capital Sanaa during an airstrike, which wounded two embassy staff members. The incident heightened tension between the two countries. Iran’s national television quoted Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hossein Jaber Ansari as saying that Saudi Arabia’s action violated all international principles on the protection of diplomatic missions. Ansari said th Saudi government must be responsible for the damage and the conditions of the wounded personnel. However, he gave no details concerning the timing of the attack. The Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen said it will conduct an investigation about Iran’s accusation.

In an emergency meeting on Thursday, Iran’s cabinet chaired by President Sassan Rouhani, approved a bill, which will ban all commodities of Saudi origins.
