Iran, Italy sign deals worth billions of USD

(VOVworld) - Italy and Iran have signed billions of dollars of business deals at the start of a visit to Europe by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The new trade agreements, worth a total of 18.4 billion USD, cover various sectors, including health, transportation, agriculture, and energy. Speaking in a joint press briefing with President Rouhani, Italian President Matteo Renzi said these agreements were just the beginning for bilateral cooperation. The two leaders also discussed measures to fight IS and solutions to end the civil war in Syria.

President Rouhani said Iranian markets offered Italian and European investors opportunities to prove their abilities. He said Tehran would do its best for peace in Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, and Italy. Italy is President Rouhani’s first stop on his first official European tour since the US and EU removed economic sanctions against Tehran regarding its nuclear program.
