(VOVworld) – Iran has proposed the formation of a bloc of Muslim countries to fight terrorism and boost regional economic cooperation.

At a security conference on Sunday in Tehran, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Iran and Saudi Arabia, along with Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, and Pakistan, should work together to promote regional peace and protect the Palestinian people. He stressed the strategic importance of western Asia, saying it is the link between Asia, Europe, and Africa. However, the area has troubles that stemmed from previous mistakes and disputes and have led to the terrorism that now threatens regional and global security.
