Iran reacts to IAEA report on uranium enrichment

(VOVWORLD) -Iran's atomic energy chief Mohammad Eslami said Wednesday that there was "nothing new" in a nuclear watchdog report saying Tehran had reversed a months-long slowdown in its uranium enrichment program, Iranian media reported.

"We did nothing new and are doing the same activities according to the rules," Eslami was quoted as saying.

This statement was made just one day after the IAEA report said Iran is enriching uranium to 60%. That number is lower than the 90% needed to create nuclear weapons, but much higher than the 3.67% limit that Iran committed to in the agreement signed by Tehran and the P5+1 Group in 2015.

According to the IAEA, the activity is taking place at a factory in the Natanz Complex and at the Fordow nuclear facility in Qom, northern Iran.
