Iran’s top security body warned that its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency will be suspended if  the UN reimposes its sanctions.

Iran’s warning came on Saturday, a day after the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) failed to adopt a resolution to permanently lift sanctions against Iran.

But Tehran and key European powers still have eight days to try and agree to a delay of the punitive measures.

Also on Saturday, Russia expressed concern over the UN Security Council’s vote to reimpose sanctions on Iran, saying the move would only escalate regional tensions.

China’s Ambassador to the UN Fu Cong also opposed the move to reimpose sanctions, warning that it would fuel division among Security Council members and undermine diplomatic efforts to resume talks on Tehran’s nuclear program.
