Iran sets up special committee to review nuclear agreement - ảnh 1

(VOVworld) – Iran's parliament established a 15-member special committee on Tuesday to review the nuclear deal it reached with the P5+1 world powers in Vienna last week.

Under Iran's constitution, the parliament has the right to reject any deal — even one negotiated by the Foreign Ministry.

But there is little chance Iranian lawmakers will derail the proposal, which has already been backed by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

It remains unclear whether the committee will write a statement at the end of its review and vote on that – or vote on the deal in general.

Under the July 14 nuclear pact, the UN and the West will lift many sanctions on the Iranian economy by the end of this year. Iran pledged to curb its nuclear program for a decade but will continue to enrich uranium and be allowed to develop and do further research on modern nuclear technology. Iran will also permit the inspection of its nuclear facilities.

The agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group will take effect 90 days after the UN Security Council adopts a resolution accepting the agreement.
