Iran to relax commitment in JSPOA
(VOVWORLD) - The secondary part of Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor will become operational within the next few weeks, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said.
Highlighting the measures taken by Tehran to relax commitments from a nuclear deal known as the JCPOA, he said the reduction of obligations would not constitute a violation of the JCPOA from a technical perspective, and the possibility of returning to the pre-JCPOA conditions still exists. Before the deal was reached, Iran enriched approximately 2,300 kilograms of enriched uranium every year, but the current figure stands at 1,700 kilograms per year. Iran and Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany reached a consensus over the text of the JCPOA in 2015.
