The funeral was attended by Defense Minister Amir Hatami, Revolutionary Guards Commander Hossein Salami, and other several high-ranking officials.
In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry described the assassination of Fakhrizadeh as a "provocative terrorist act aimed at destabilising the situation and fueling a potential conflict in the region". The statement called on all parties to refrain from steps that might lead to further escalation.
Lebanon, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) all strongly condemned the incident and urged restraint to prevent the region from sliding into more violence.
