Iranian President Mahmoud Admadinejad will pay a visit to Egypt on Thursday on the occasion of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Summit in Cairo. If that happens, Admadinejad will become the first Iranian President to visit Egypt since the 1979 revolution. Admadinejad attended the Non-Alliance Movement of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi last August, when the two countries’ leaders agreed to re-open their embassies. Tehran cut off all ties with Cairo in 1980, but after the regime of President Hosni Mubarak collapsed and the Muslim Brotherhood took power in Egypt, the two countries resumed relations.
