At the ongoing “Middle East forum for dialogue and reconciliation” in Erbil city, Iraq, President Masoum called on political factions and state institutions to reach an agreement on reconciliation and restore civil peace. He suggested that Iraq consider laws to accelerate the reconciliation process, based on the experience of South Africa and Ireland.
Iraqi parliament speaker Salim Al-Jabouri said political factions in Iraq should assess the situation in the country and restart the national reconciliation dialogue. Al-Jabouri said Iraq is facing a trust crisis that is due mainly to a lack of contact between political factions.
