The photos’ captions indicate that the victims were members of the paramilitary group “Popular Mobilization” and the execution took place in Salaheddin province, north of Baghdad.
The IS cam-corded a number of its executions of people in its controlled areas in Iraq and Syria. Although IS now controls Iraq’s second largest city Mosul, the Iraqi army and Shiite forces have pushed them back from advancing towards Baghdad.
