Protesters demanded the release of remaining hostages.
In Hostages Square, Tel Aviv, protesters laid out a yellow “SOS” sign on the ground, along with an hourglass, signaling that time is running out for the hostages. Protesters wore yellow shirts and head coverings as they stood throughout the exhibit.
Demonstrations were also held in many other places, including in front of the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the demonstrations, calling it a dangerous escalation of anti-government protests, accusing demonstrators of threatening his family, committing acts of arson, and undermining public order.
In a video statement Wednesday evening, Netanyahu said the current wave of protests has “crossed every boundary.” He also criticized law enforcement, saying that police were failing to respond.
