ITEC Day 2012 opens in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVworld) – The Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city on Monday held the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Day (ITEC Day 2012) featuring the Indian fellowship programs in Vietnam. The Indian government began ITEC program in 1964 to share experience in socio-economic and technical development with developing countries and help them build high-qualified labors, enrich financial source, and approach high technology. 560 Vietnamese people have received ITEC scholarship and other long-term ones since 1995 in science, technology, and financial management.

Indian Consul General Abhay Thakur said: The program is successful thanks to great support of Vietnamese authorities and academic institutions. ITEC scholarship receivers and Vietnamese educational experts have made the program popular among the public. ITEC has significantly contributed to promoting Vietnam-India bilateral ties as our main target. I hope the fellowship program will be better known and bring greater benefits to its receivers.
