Japan, China agree on expert consultancy on treated water release from Fukushima
(VOVWORLD) - Japan and China have agreed to hold talks early next year between experts from the two countries over the ocean release of treated water stored at the Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant, the Japanese government said on Tuesday.

The discussion will focus on narrowing the gap in opinions regarding the safety of releasing treated wastewater into the ocean and solutions for China to resume imports of Japanese fishery products.
At the Japan-China summit last November, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and President Xi Jinping admitted that the two sides had different views over the ocean release of treated water. They agreed to resolve the issue through consultation and dialogue.
