The agreement followed North Korea's recent launch of a long-range ballistic missile. In a phone talk on Thursday, Japan's Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida asked France's Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault to support Japan in holding a foreign ministers' meeting of the Group of 7 nations in Hiroshima in April. Ayrault pledged to solidify bilateral relations.

Also on Thursday, US President Barack Obama signed a bill on intensifying sanctions against North Korea for defying the world with its nuclear weapons program
