Japan’s parliamentary election begins

(VOVworld) - Japanese voters began voting Sunday to select the most prominent figures from 12,000 candidates of 9 parties to 475 seats of the Lower House.

The election is organized after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe dissolved the Lower House on November 21 and called for a snap election. Initial results will be announced the same day.

The latest public polls by the Nikkei showed the Liberal Democratic Party of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe would maintain its majority of over 300 seats, a strong lead over the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan.
