Japan’s ruling coalition approves new rules on arms exports

(VOVworld) – Japan’s coalition government has approved new rules on arms exports, paving the way for the first major overhaul after nearly half a decade of the country’s arms embargo policy.

Japan will only export weapons for promoting international cooperation and Japan’s security interests

The Japanese cabinet is expected to approve the new guidelines next week which won’t allow the exports of weapons to countries involved in conflicts, including those violating UN resolutions, except for those promoting international cooperation and Japan’s security interests.
